Thursday the 28th of June, OSF and its members were invited by Red Bull for a meeting during the Volvo Ocean Race Finish in Scheveningen, The Hague. During this fantastic sunny day, we were welcomed at the RBFG Home at Scheveningen beach. Besides the members of OSF, also the members of the Dutch Association of Sport Product Manufacturers and Wholesalers, FGHS (www.fghs.nl/en/) were invited.
The program started with a tour through the ‘Race Village’, where organiser TIG Sports managed to create a fantastic atmosphere with different kinds of leisure and entertainment, like music, supping, sailing and lots of facilities for drinks and bites. Furthermore, at the same time the qualifications for the Red Bull Foiling Generation took place. All the guest got the opportunity to get on board of a RIB boat to enjoy this spectacle from nearby. It was also a great opportunity to see the boats who just finished the Volvo Ocean Race boats, in action from the water. It was a great experience to start the meeting!
After this ‘experience’, everyone took place in a relaxing beach chair to start with a presentation from Mr. Frans Sluyters (organiser Volvo Ocean Race Finish, The Hague). He showed some very interesting insight of the preparations for this fantastic event and he shared several ‘behind the scenes’ stories.
Next speaker was Mr. Marcel van de Goor (National Event Manager Sport & Events Red Bull). He brought us deeper into to marketing strategy of Red Bull and talked about training talents and creating experiences. A very interesting insight in how Red Bull managed to position itself in the market of energy drinks and thanks to which we can’t think about sports anymore without associating it with Red Bull.
Finally, the meeting ended with a drink and everyone had the opportunity to catch up with each other and discuss the experiences and presentations with colleagues from the Dutch sports industry. Thanks to Red Bull, everyone went home with a load of inspiration and enthusiasm!
