Why (not) use an e-Bike for healthier and safer commuting, leisure, and sports practice 

The We-Bike! project seeks to advance the understanding and adoption of e-Bike mobility across Europe, focusing on urban areas. It aims to promote e-Bikes as a sustainable, safe, and health-enhancing mode of transportation for commuting, leisure, and sports. The project emphasizes reducing urban pollution, addressing climate change, and fostering active lifestyles through targeted education, policy recommendations, and the development of safety protocols.

Objectives

  • Conduct Comprehensive Research on e-Bike Mobility
  • Analyze the state of e-Bike mobility across European countries, focusing on commuting, leisure, sports, market trends, and safety issues, providing a robust foundation for informed decision-making.
  • Develop and Implement an Educational Package for e-Bike Stakeholders
  • Create and pilot a capacity-building program for e-Bike users, policymakers, and sellers, supported by targeted training materials, to promote safer, healthier, and more sustainable e-Bike practices.
  • Designing a Protocol and Guidelines Handbook
  • Develop a practical handbook featuring safety protocols and best practices aimed at improving road safety and fostering healthier e-Bike usage, with a focus on vulnerable user groups.
  • Formulate Policy Recommendations for Sustainable Urban Mobility
  • Draft strategic policy recommendations to guide the integration of e-Bikes into urban mobility frameworks, enhancing their adoption as a safe and environmentally friendly transportation mode.
  • Strengthen Networking and Cooperation Among Stakeholders
  • Facilitate collaboration between public authorities, educational institutions, and sports organizations to promote e-Bikes as a sustainable alternative for commuting, leisure, and sports, ensuring the long-term impact of the project.
