In March 2019 OSF, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Dutch Embassy in Doha (Qatar), organized a successful sports business trade mission to Qatar. Due to this trade mission and the general interest of Qatar in the Dutch sports business, a delegation from Qatar will visit the Netherlands for an incoming trade mission from 23 – 25 September 2019.
The delegation from Qatar will consist out of several companies, among others Aspire Zone, Qatar Development Bank, Qatar Financial Centre and the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy already confirmed their participation.
Aspire is initiating a Sport accelerator program that aim to establish a pioneer sport business hub that brings together elite sport businesses under one roof. It is a dedicated sector within Aspire Zone established to leverage Qatar’s status as a global sports business hub by creating new business opportunities for the private sector, attracting foreign investment and developing Qatari entrepreneurs. Through these activities, the Sport Accelerator will increase the share of the sports sector in Qatar’s economy, in support of Qatar National Vision 2030.
The objective of their visit is to attract Dutch sport business companies in the sports areas mentioned below. They are looking for Dutch sports companies interested in having a presence in Qatar and with a strategic vision to internationally expand. Sports Accelerator program aim to attract companies in the following sports area:
- Event management & promotion
- Sports development
- Sports organizations & associations
- Venue operations & maintenance
- Sports goods & equipment manufacturers
- Sports commercialization
- Sports tourism
- Clubs, federations & leagues
- Sports consultancy & legal
- Sports medicine & research
- Any other activities surrounding the sport industry
